Founder story
I was only thirteen when I first encountered the painful sting of exclusion. In school, I overheard a woman speaking in another language. She told her child not to come near me. I still remember the shock in my father's eyes as he stood beside me. He broke down immediately. That moment, raw and heartbreaking, marked the beginning of my journey with camouflage.
I wasn’t looking to change who I was. I wasn’t hiding out of shame. I just needed a way to feel a little more secure, a little more seen for the person I was. Over the years, as I experimented with different products, I grew frustrated. Many of the available options simply didn’t meet the demands of real life. They weren’t sweat proof, they transferred onto clothes, and they faded at the worst times. It became clear that the solution had to be practical, long-lasting, and above all, empowering.
That realization drove me to create Mimiq. At its heart, Mimiq is more than makeup. It’s a choice. It’s about reclaiming moments of vulnerability and turning them into strength. I wanted to build something that honoured the idea that if the world can’t help but cast judgments and barbs, you shouldn’t have to answer to them every single day.
Mimiq stands for more than just effective camouflage. It stands for the power to decide how, when, and where to reveal your true self. It’s a philosophy rooted in empathy, designed to give a voice to those who prefer to keep the conversations at bay without compromising on who they are. Because not everyone has the strength or the desire to hear what the world has to say. And that’s okay.
